A Swedish designer has developed a heatable sitting pad and shawl. Prototypes will be ready early 2018 so the designer is now looking for one or two manufacturers with experience in working with heatable textile products. The manufacturer(s) is expected to assembly and sew the sitting pad and/or knit or weave and sew the shawl according to the designers specifications. It is also preferred that the manufacturer(s) has resources to print on textile. A manufacturing agreement is sought.
This female Swedish designer is working with innovative products and services based on problems women have, which means that women are the main customers. Since the beginning of 2016 she has been developing a heated seat cushion for women with urethritis. A prototype of this seat cushion will soon be ready but she needs a manufacturing partner. Parallel with the development of the seat cushion she has also started to develop a heated shawl and is looking for a manufacturer for that one too. It is desirable that the manufacturer can produce both the sitting pad and the shawl but it is not a requirement.
The shawl shall be knitted with a special yarn that will act as the heating component. The yarn is integrated into the textile and ensures a high level of comfort to the wearer or user. The sitting pad on the other hand shall be assembled with a ready made heating component. Both products are heated via USB by a regular power bank or a computer. Therefore the manufacturer(s) need to be able to mount the cable.
Due to the complexity of these two products the potential manufacturer(s) is expected to have experience from producing more advanced textile products. Experience from working with heatable textile products is of course highly preferred, however contacts to suppliers of yarn/heating components can be sourced by the designer. The manufacturer is primarily expected to be able to mount/sew the cushion and shawl according to the designers specifications. It is also preferred that the manufacturer has the ability to print on textile according to the designer's own design.
Initial expected volume is 50-100 pieces per product. Thereafter it is expected that the volume will be at least 500-1000 pieces per year.
It is a huge bonus if the manufacturing partner has an interest to further develop these or other products together with the designer.
- Type of partner sought: One or two manufacturers with experience from working with heatable textile products. The manufacturer is expected to:
-Mount and sew the sitting pad which consists of external fabric, spacers, heating component and cable.
-Knit the shawl with heating yarn in selected parts and attach the cable. The manufacturer should be able to knit in different patterns and colors.
- Preferably have the ability to print on textile
- Specific area of activity of the partner: One or two manufacturers with experience in working with heatable textile products. The manufacturer(s) is expected to assembly and sew the sitting pad and/or knit or weave and sew the shawl according to the designers specifications. Many of the components (heating and spacers) can be sourced by the designer. It is preferred that the manufacturer can print on textile or at least have a partner that can provide that service.
The sitting pad will have direct heat for the bottom and back. It will be very smooth and folds easily into the handbag while on the go. The sitting pad will be heated via USB by a regular power bank or a computer. So no strings of wires to be plugged into the wall, heating in the microwave or use of different chemical gadgets.
The shawl is so much more than a scarf. It can be used as a blanket on the airplane, the boat, the office or why not on the outdoor seating. It also works as a vest to wear under the jacket or as a poncho over her shoulders. Just as the sitting pad it will have direct heat.
Under development/lab tested - Prototypes will be ready early 2018.
