A Danish importer of high quality wines is looking for small family-owned wineries from all over Spain, that produce at least Denominación de Origen (DO) wines. The company is offering a distribution services agreement to vineyards with high-scoring wines according to wine reviewers.
The SME is a Danish importer of high quality Spanish wines and located in the northern part of Denmark. Their business started in 2011 and since then they have grown from 2 to 6 employees. In 2014, they opened their own wine bar and in 2017 also a restaurant.They are specialised in Spanish wines and half of the staff speaks Spanish. There are frequent visits to Spain, because their philosophy is based on only selling wines from vineyards and wineries they have visited and trust. They primarily work with small family-owned wineries, rather than large commercial organisations.
In order to continue their expansion into the Danish market, the SME is looking for small family-owned wineries from all over Spain, but particularly from the regions of Rioja, Andalucia, Canary and Balearic Islands, that produce high-quality wines and are interested in selling their wines in Denmark to a variety of sales channels including online sales, bars and restaurants. They are targeting wines scoring over 90 points from recognised wine critics including Robert Parker, Wine Enthusiast, Stephen Tanzer, Decanter, Guía Peñín and Guía Repsol. As a minimum, the wine must have Denominación de Origen (DO), Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOC) or Vino de Pago certification. The Danish company is offering a long-term distribution services agreement to suppliers who can provide wines in the required quality.

All wines must have minimum DO level although higher levels are preferred.
The SME require free samples of the wines or a meeting with the wineries before making an agreement.
- Specific area of activity of the partner: A typical client would be a small, family-owned and managed vineyard, currently not selling on the Danish market.
The vineyard should have some wines with a high point score from internationally recognised wine critics and be located in a DO, DOC or Vino de Pago area.
Of particular interest are lots which are changing vintage, which satisfy the other quality conditions.
Half of the staff in Denmark speaks Spanish, so there is no need for the winery to contact an export manager or agent.
The SME has different customers including online sales to primarily private consumers, bars and restaurants and business sales.
In terms of logistics the SME will organise the transport to Denmark, so the winery may only have to drive the wines for 1 hour to a pick-up location.
The staff of the Danish SME travel a lot in Spain and participate in Spanish wine fairs, so they have a close relationship to the wineries. Additional they also participate in Danish wine fairs and make tastings in Denmark where the wineries can visit them.
