ABSTRACT

On behalf of a consortium building a new tyre recycling plant, a small UK company is seeking opportunities in upcycling or valorising the carbon yielding from pyrolysis. There is no specification for the technology or its readiness level, as long as it targets growth or profitable applications. The types of cooperation may include research or technical cooperation, licensing, commercial agreements with technical assistance.

FULL DESCRIPTION

A small UK business acts as the liaisoning office for a consortium building a plant for recycling end-of-life tyres. They will be a partner in a research or development project or help achieve commercial agreements with products/technologies that are ready for market.

The consortium is viewing opportunities to upcycle the carbon produced from the commercial pyrolysis plant.

The scope of the search is very broad from a technology perspective. The carbon can be converted chemically or physically and yield new or well known chemicals for new or well known applications. Examples are not just limited to graphene, nanotubes and suchlike.

Also, the market size can vary as long as these are growth markets and/or the process is profitable.

The company can start various projects with different TRL including R&D and commercialisation.

With an advanced technology, it may be formalised under a commercial agreement with technical assistance or licensing where it suits the case. With technologies under development, the consortium can participate in feasibility and other studies under research or technical cooperation. At a later point, the cooperation may change into licensing or commercial agreements with technical assistance.

Partner expertise sought:

- Type of partner sought: There is no clear scope in terms of technology or its development stage as the project is opportunistic. The consortium is keen to exploit new materials and processes, both new and market-ready.
- Specific area of activity of the partner: Type of partner sought: industry and academia
Specific activity of partner sought: research and development into carbon, graphene, nanoparticles etc.
Role of partner sought: interested parties are invited to send a non-confidential description of technologies they own or develop, accompanied by any market data or suggestions around the commercial viability of the technology.
