A Spanish technology research centre specialised in plastics, composites, polymer blends, and polymer materials for packaging is looking for novel commercial biobased and biodegradable polymers.
The technology centre is looking for bio-based alternatives to adapt to current expanded polystyrene packaging under commercial agreement with technical assistance. If they do not find the commercial solution they consider a future development under research or technical cooperation agreement.
A Spanish research institute, specialised in plastics and composite materials and experts in design assistance and consulting, looks for compounding manufacturers and the resins related industries, or research institutes with expertise in highly biodegradable polymer blends based in novel biobased materials, such as polybutylene succinate, polybutylene adipate and polyhydroxybutyrate, polylactic acid, etc….These novel biopolymers are highly interesting due to their high biodegradation rates. However, they exhibit some deficiencies in their performance for particular applications that can be tailored through polymer blending.
Now, the interest is focus on new highly biodegradable formulations to be used as a bio alternative for current expanded polystyrene packaging. The sought solution should be adapted to the current packaging manufacturing processes of expanded polystyrene.
The partner sought are biodegradable expandable beads suppliers for biodegradable expanded foams to be used in the industry of packaging under commercial agreement with technical assistance.
The technology centre is also interested in technical cooperation or research cooperation agreements to present an industrial research proposal with SMEs to eurostars-eureka or similar calls
- Type of partner sought: The research centre is looking for experts with skills on biodegradable expandable beads for biodegradable expanded foams suitable for packaging.
The technology sought shall be ready to be adapted to the current packaging manufacturing processes of expanded polystyrene resulting in a commercial solution.
Although the technology centre is open to co-develop promising solutions under international research projects.
- Specific area of activity of the partner: The technology centre seeks suppliers of biodegradable expandable beads foams for been used in new solutions on packaging manufacturing process. Capabilities to supply these beads at industrial scale and ready-to market are considered.
The centre is also interested in contact partners related to biodegradable expanded foams, under technical cooperation or research cooperation agreements, in order to present an industrial research proposal with SMEs to eurostars-eureka or similar calls.
