A UK/France-based product designer and inventor is seeking a strategic partnership in the form of a joint venture or a manufacturing agreement with a manufacturer of cycling parts to develop a unique range of bike saddles and other cycling accessories.
The UK business is a product development agency and concept lab. It develops new disruptive ideas in the retail sector for global marketing and manufacturing. The agency has done a lot of work through business open innovation platforms, most notably, Philips, Proctor & Gamble, and Unilever.
Working in constant collaboration with other product designers, inventors, and engineers it has a number of new and innovative products at various stages of development.
Currently the designer is seeking a joint venture partnership with a manufacturer with the capacity for the development of an innovative bike seat. The patent-pending design is one of a small number of products the designer is developing for the global market.
The seat, with a central spine and floating vulcanized rubber fillets, is a major new bike saddle developed to address the occupational hazard of saddle sores.
The radical new design breaks new ground in ergonomics and practicality for long-distance cyclists.
Because prototyping and manufacture are expensive and often cost-prohibitive, the UK company is seeking a strategic partnership (ideally a joint venture) with a manufacturer who would have the capacity to engineer, test, and refine this product from design to manufacture.
A joint venture partnership and/or long term manufacturing agreement are sought.
- Type of partner sought: The UK company is seeking a joint venture partnership / long term manufacturing agreement with a company that has a specialty in producing high-quality bike saddles and other bicycle parts.
They are looking for a well-equipped company with particular expertise in road bike engineering and component development. The partner sought will have a capacity for specialized plastic and rubber molding CNC and welding.
The ideal partner would have either UK/EU manufacturing assets with Asian sourcing and manufacturing capacity a major plus. Following prototyping, the partner should potentially have the capacity for low to mid-volume production and eventually distribution through global retail/wholesale channels.
Ultimately the designer is seeking a joint venture partnership whereby a manufacturing partner offers its expertise and production capacity for a share of IP (Intellectual Property) and back-end product royalties. However this is not a request for outsourcing or fulfillment logistics.
- Specific area of activity of the partner: The partner would be a well-equipped manufacturer of bike saddles or other specialized components. The partner should be able to engineer, prototype, and test the products to high UK/ EU and US safety standards
If the partner has the capacity to move into distribution either locally or internationally this would also be valued, although it is not essential.
The UK company is seeking a joint venture and/or manufacturing partnership. In return, the UK company would offer exclusive production rights and profit share.
