A UK and France based product designer is seeking a long term strategic partnership with a manufacturer to prototype and produce an innovative new electric French coffee press. A manufacturing agreement or a joint venture is sought where a partner supplies prototyping and manufacturing capability in return for a profit sharing arrangement.
The UK company is a product development lab based in England and France.
They develop new disruptive ideas in the retail sector for global marketing and manufacture. They collaborate with product designers, inventors and engineers to iterate and occasionally prototype their concepts.
Because prototyping and manufacture is expensive and often cost prohibitive, the UK company is a seeking a strategic partnership (ideally a joint venture) with a manufacturer who would have free capacity to prototype and manufacture these innovative products.
In this particular instance, they are looking for a partner to prototype and produce an innovative new electric French coffee press, but a suitable partner may be able to assist them with the future development, prototyping and production of other similar products.
The preferred arrangement would be that the UK company would supply the IP and concept development and the partner would provide logistical facility by supporting the manufacture of the prototypes (either for free or at exceptionally low cost). Once the product is tested and on the market, the partner will be responsible to provide the full manufacturing service for potential orders. In return, the partners will receive a share of the profit from the revenue generated by the products' sales.
Ideally a joint venture is sought for a long term partnership but the UK company will also consider more 'ad-hoc' manufacturing arrangement if the partner is willing to produce the prototype and small quantity orders.
- Type of partner sought: The UK company has recently innovated a new French coffee press, that brews and dispenses coffee at the touch of a button.
They are seeking manufacturers/experts with the capacity to mold plastics and develop and install electronic circuits for kitchen appliances into a variety of formats. All components should be manufactured to a high standard and sub-assembled by the partner prior to delivery.
Ideally the partner should be able to source all the require materials prior to prototyping and all sub-assembly components (fixings) for the prototypes.
- Specific area of activity of the partner: The partner would be a well-equipped manufacturer of domestic kitchen appliances. The partner should be able to assemble, iterate and test to a high standard, as well as meeting EU safety standards.
If the partner has experience in manufacturing for the hot beverage industry, this would be a distinct advantage.
If the partner has the capacity to move into distribution either locally or internationally this would also be valued, although it is not essential.
The UK company is seeking a joint venture and/or manufacturing partnership with free or negligible prototype production costs. In return, the UK company would share the design concepts for the partner to develop and manufacture the product, and the partner would then benefit of on-going business/orders to manufacture the agreed range of products, together with a profit share arrangement.
