A British company based in Yorkshire supplies major international retailers with custom-made furniture and shop fittings for their high street stores in the UK. It also supplies furniture and fittings to hotels, universities, and the healthcare and leisure sectors. The company now seeks to partner with a company outside the UK manufacturing similar items and supplying to a similar market, for a manufacturing agreement to fulfil orders, pack products, complete any paperwork, and arrange delivery.
The company has been designing and producing custom-made retail shop fittings for over 30 years and has recently moved into a new state of the art manufacturing plant in Yorkshire (UK). It currently supplies bespoke shop fittings for major internationally-recognised retail brands and has a very stable and robust market throughout the country and beyond.
The shop fittings and furniture include partitions, lighting, desks, chairs, bedside stands, counters, shelves, signs, point of sale equipment, display cabinets, display stands, racking, hook boards, acrylic displays and many other items. As the relationship develops, the UK company will be seeking to source additional items such as soft furnishings, sofas, merchandising equipment, hospital beds and many other items.
It now seeks to increase its market share - both within the UK and beyond its shores - and with this in mind it is seeking to partner with a manufacturer with similar capabilities and experience in similar markets for a manufacturing agreement.
The successful partner would be required to receive orders from the UK company, manufacture or source all the relevant parts, pack the products for shipping, arrange all export documentation and certification, and arrange delivery to the UK or country of installation.
The partner and any subcontractors would be expected to hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 (or equivalent), be registered with SEDEX, and carry the FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) accreditation where necessary.
- Type of partner sought: The manufacturer should possess the quality standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. They should hold SEDEX (global) and FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) accreditation.
The partner or its subcontractors must be able to carry out the following operations;
- TIG/MIG welding
- CNC edge bending
- Laminate pressing
- Laying to MDF
- Chipboard substrate and laser cutting
They should be able to source / provide items in, and deal with a diverse range of materials such as, but not exclusively;
- Light steel
- Hollow mild steel tube
- Bright drawn mild steel
- Aluminium extrusions
- Hard and soft wood
- Powder coated MDF
- Laminated veneers
- Melamine faced chipboard
- PETG (fire retardant)
The partner will also need to provide / source a range of finishes, including but not exclusively;
- Powder coating
- Nylon coating
- Specialist electroplating of brass, nylon and zinc
- Specific area of activity of the partner: A partner with experience in providing shop fittings and furniture to international high-end retailers, hospitals and hotels who is willing to receive orders from the UK, source the appropriate materials, undertake manufacture, either directly or with some subcontracting of operations (to the appropriate standards), package the products, arrange export documentation and certification (where appropriate) and arrange delivery to the UK or country of installation for a manufacturing agreement.
The UK company would supply all relevant drawings and material specifications for all products to the partner.
