A UK company specialising in plus fit, tall and adaptive children's clothing is looking for manufacturers to work with to develop various school uniforms items and casual wear (e.g. jeans) for boys and girls 4-16 years. The main items will be trousers and shorts both for school and casual wear.
A manufacturing agreement is sought.
The UK company has a specific on-going requirement for the supply of several manufactured items for direct retail and wholesale distribution.
Price and quality standards will be essential to securing a manufacturing agreement as the UK company has a strong reputation for delivering outstanding value for their customers.
The company is looking for manufacturers who can work with them to develop their clothing range. The initial requirement will be to develop some new patterns for boy's school trousers (which may mean some smaller runs of trial sizes, 100pcs approx, across a range of sizes). Once the design is agreed, bulk orders will be placed of around 600-1000 pieces per style. Annually the UK company currently sell in excess of 10,000 pairs of trousers across 6 designs, which they expect to grow to 30,000 with more designs available to their customers.
The required garments are:
- Boys and girls school trousers – standard fit, half elastic, full elastic.
- Boys and girls casual trousers – standard fit, half elastic, full elastic
- Boys and girls jeans – standard fit, half elastic, full elastic
- Boys and girls shorts – standard fit, half elastic, full elastic
The school uniform market is very seasonal, with up to 60% of sales taking place during July-September but there will not be such seasonal variants with the casual clothing they are looking to develop.
The UK company is interested in establishing a manufacturing agreement with suitable manufacturers of the above articles.
- Type of partner sought: The UK company is interested in working with experienced manufacturers of clothing apparel.
A potential partner should be able to deliver relatively small quantities of goods on a regular and reliable basis. The volumes may be extended in the future depending on the success of the relationship, growth of the business and quality of items received.
Expertise in pattern making and ongoing product development and innovation will be required. The UK company wishes to look at different designs and different fabrics for ongoing product development and modifications.
Fabrics they are looking to work with are woven, twill, stretch cotton and denim (with and without stretch). Trousers being considered are fixed waist, half elasticated, fully elasticated and waist adjuster.
- Specific area of activity of the partner: The potential partner should be a flexible, adaptive, innovative manufacturing company capable of delivering quality, competitive items in fairly small quantities initially (orders may be increased in the future).
The UK company would prefer to work with European manufacturers that comply with regional quality assurance schemes.
Manufacturing partners must be able to deliver made-to-order items.
The UK company is a specialist children's clothing retailer and wholesaler with a wide range of clients including loyal direct customers and local schools. The company has a retail unit, online e-commerce stores and is now looking to expand by selling wholesale to other retailers.
The company is now venturing into developing its own exclusive range of high quality, good value clothing, in specific sizing which sets them aside of the competition. They are looking to create an innovative new style of trouser, never seen in the market before, and ideally patent this design once it's perfected.
Due to the company's loyal customer following and the unique style of these trousers, the UK company can maintain consistent orders for manufacturers that are able to meet quality standards and competitive pricing structures, as well as low volumes of these customised products.
