Summary

A Dutch SME designs and manufactures cutting-edge camera systems for medical applications ranging from fluorescent imaging to photodynamic therapy. Multispectral imaging is the next logical step in medical imaging providing a new means of gathering and visualizing information. The SME has now developed a medical imaging device and imaging software specifically for medical imaging agents. The company is looking for imaging agent manufacturers for a commercial agreement with technical assistance.

Full description

Medical Imaging was born with the the invention of the X-ray. Since then, it has allowed surgeons to see more than what is visible to the naked eye. The development of imaging modalities like PET, SPECT, CT and MRI have improved the means for diagnosis tremendously.

The Dutch company designs and manufactures cutting-edge camera systems for medical applications ranging from fluorescent imaging to photodynamic therapy. A complete products listing is available for medical surgical intervention with camera systems, applying the latest in multispectral imaging.

The company targets its main camera system, to be used both for external and minimal invasive imaging. Multispectral imaging is the next logical step in medical imaging providing a new means of gathering and visualizing information. The camera system includes several camera models, lenses, endoscopes and light engines.

Diagnosis through imaging is becoming more and more important. The developed technology is able to show both the color picture and the pixel-to-pixel co-registered fluorescent overlay of what used to be invisible. This makes it a valuable tool in precision surgery and diagnosis.

The surgeon can see a real-time view of the tissue he is looking at and at the same time the fluorescence signal overlay of the bloodfow in (micro)vessel or organs, sentinel lymph nodes, tumors or nerves, depending on the fluorescent agent used. The system can be used for both open surgery and minimal invasive surgery by using an easy to switch lens and laparoscope.

The agent most widely used at the moment is ICG. This non-targeted probe has a wide range of applications such as cardio vascular, plastic surgery and oncology. Showing the surgeon pictures that were invisible until now.

The targeted probes, being able to highlight specifics such as different kinds of tumors or nerves, will soon be approved taking cancer surgery to a new level.

Innovative Aspects

The developed technology is able to show both the color picture and the pixel-to-pixel co-registered fluorescent overlay of what used to be invisible. Also the wide range of applications such as cardio vascular, plastic surgery and oncology.

- the most advanced camera for intraoperative fluorescence imaging
- flawlessly combines color capture with fluorescent signals
- both for open surgery and minimal invasive surgery
- high sensitivity; picking up very small amounts of fluorescent signals
- both real-time view and low-signal stills can be captured
- no motion aberrations
- most versatile: handheld camera on a movable trolley
- adjustable for different dyes which can also to be combined in one camera

Partner expertise sought:

- Type of partner sought:Imaging agent manufacturers companies using cameras for medical applications

- Specific area of activity of the partner:
Medical Imaging

- Task to be performed by the partner sought: develop or provide the imaging agent to use with the imaging device.
