In the event of an accident at the work place or within a company, its often difficult to establish the correct diagnosis and subsequently take the appropriate action. Research shows that this also applies to well-trained in-house emergency response officers, and even that many of them, after only three months, cannot clearly remember the learned knowledge. This makes them unsure and hesitant, and as a result are not consistently able to quickly and adequately provide the necessary First Aid in an acute emergency situation. Research also shows that many business-owners are not sufficiently aware of his companys operational risks and hazards.

The Dutch SME has developed a technology platform for first aid applications in the emergency sector. The technology platform is based on emergency protocols. The protocols are developed in such a way that a decision tree is integrated based on simple yes/no questions. By answering these questions, the device will guide the response worker towards the proper protocol for the treatment of the particular emergency situation. It involves a sequence of three steps:

1.Listening
2.Answering
3.Following instructions

Also, protocols can be customized for any situation or user. This makes the technology platform suitable for a wide array of first aid applications. The protocols can be integrated into an emergency instruction device.
