Hydroponics is a subset of hydro-culture and is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil. Hydroponics is the practice of growing plants in either a bath or flow of highly oxygenated, nutrient enriched water. With hydroponics, water is enriched with these very same nutrient salts, creating a hydroponic nutrient solution that is perfectly balanced. And since this hydroponic nutrient solution is contained, it does not harm our environment as does runoff from fertilized soil. Additionally, very little water is lost to evaporation in a hydroponic system, owing to its application in drought stricken areas.
The Macedonian company wants to start a new investment, building a new greenhouse for vegetables. Therefore, they are looking for providers of the technology to implement hydroponics technology. As energy resource company plans to utilize bio-gas generated from already operating nearby cattle farm.
Company is interested for technology and methods for hydroponic greenhouse that can maximize the vegetables production and profitability for crop yields throughout all the year. Thus, enabling the benefits of the hydroponics systems over conventional greenhouse vegetables production including higher and more stable output and shorter turn-around times.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The system will be implemented in greenhouse with size of 2-3000 m2 (sq.meters). Technology should provide cost-effective production with precision farming and high yields throughout all year. Additional requests on technology will be on economy on water resources, affordable production costs and automated process-to decrease labor needs.
