Enterprise Europe Network Scotland opens trading doors for Scottish businesses taking products and services further afield.
Get Online Week 2013 is a pan-European awareness campaign engaging and empowering people to use technology and the internet.
After a brilliant first round of the Scottish EDGE competition, where over £500,000 was provided to help 17 of Scotland's brightest entrepreneurs, it is all starting again!
This next round will award in the region of £750,000 to young Scottish businesses. The closing date for round two applications is 5pm Tuesday 16 April.
The Tech for Good Challenge is looking to invest £500,000 together with mentoring, nurturing and support in 10 early stage tech social ventures that will significantly improve the life chances of young people. Deadline 15th April 2013.
The 20.8 million European small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) create 85% of all new jobs in Europe, they employ 2/3 of the workforce in the EU and they contribute significantly to innovation and growth. Following the principle "think small first", and in line with the Small Business Act of 2008, the Commission has put SMEs at the heart of its smart regulation agenda to help growth and job creation in Europe. In a broad consultation initiated by the Commission, around 1000 SMEs and business organisations have now identified the top 10 most burdensome EU laws.

European Commission Vice President Neelie Kroes announces €50 million for research to deliver 5G mobile technology by 2020, with the aim to put Europe back in the lead of the global mobile industry. "I want 5G be pioneered by European industry, based on European research and creating jobs in Europe – and we will put our money where our mouth is," Kroes said.

The OECD is urging its member governments to harmonise their clinical trial approval processes, citing a decline in the pharmaceutical sector in the EU, where the number of applications for clinical trials fell 25% between 2007 and 2011.
Today the European Commission launched two public consultations on specific measures which could improve tax collection and ensure better tax compliance across the EU.
