Telecommunications and networks are not only enabling technologies for telemedicine in remote and rural locations, but also for continuous health monitoring out of hospital, at home, and during sports, leisure or professional activities. HEALTHCOM 2010 is an opportunity to bring together interested parties from around the world working in the health care field to exchange ideas, to discuss innovative and emerging solutions and to develop collaborations.
Participants are set to include clinicians, hospital administrators, information technology professionals, researchers, educators, healthcare solutions vendors, and consultants. The event is also an important forum for discussions on eHealth projects sponsored by world bodies such as the World Health Organisation and European Commission, including Framework Programme projects. 02/07/2010 IEEE Healthcom 2010, Lyon, France There is a significant market potential for Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) solutions, but adoption is limited because they require significant resources for implementation. This fact gives rise to a stringent need for an open technological platform supporting a wide range of diverse stakeholders (including end users, developers, service providers, public and private care providers).
For such a platform to be successful, the establishment of a sustainable community is mandatory. This workshop is intended as a first step in this direction. It will provide a forum in which the technical challenges related to the development of such a platform, the establishment of an AAL community, and the tools and methods to sustain such community will be discussed by the interested stakeholders.
WASP 2010 is promoted and supported by the EU FP7 universAAL project whose mandate is to build such community and platform. The workshop is held in conjunction with the IEEE 12th International Conference of E-Health, Networking, Applications & Services (IEEE HealthCom 2010). 02/07/2010 - 07/07/2010 Turin, Italy Students, young researchers and scientists, teachers and experts, journalists and politicians, science buffs and members of the public will meet at ESOF2010 to explore the frontiers of scientific and technological research, and to debate controversial topics and compare experiences.
One of the key objectives of ESOF2010 is to provide career openings and targeted programmes for postgraduates and young researchers.
Overall, the event will have more than 120 meetings and 20 keynote lectures given by noted figures from the world of science.
ESOF is an important event that is held every two years and is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and to their impact on society. 04/07/2010 - 09/07/2010 Obergurgl, Austria The impacts of nanotechnology on the development of sustainable energy systems will be explored at a conference in Obergurgl, Austria from 4 to 9 July 2010.
The impact of nanotechnology on the environment will also be discussed. The aim, though, is to provide a comprehensive overview of nanotechnology and showcase the latest developments in the field with respect to energy research, technologies and opportunities. Discussions will revolve around the basic science of energy and environmental technology, and application-oriented research.
The conference also aims to identify synergies between disciplines and people, and to catalyse global contacts and collaborations among world leading experts and laboratories.
The conference is organised by Austrian Science Fund and Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck in partnership with the European Science Foundation. 05/07/2010 - 06/07/2010 Vienna, Austria Crowdsourcing is the phenomenon where an online population provides the bulk of the content for a website. Encouraged by the expansion of Web 2.0 and social networking, crowdsourcing has become an industry in its own right.
Web 2.0 provides the technological foundations upon which the crowdsourcing paradigm evolves and operates, enabling 'networked experts' to work collaboratively to complete specific tasks. Enterprise crowdsourcing poses interesting challenges for both academic and industrial research along with its social, legal, and technological dimensions.
The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners to facilitate stimulating discussions on the different aspects of crowdsourcing. Delegates will be encouraged to help identify emerging topics and challenges within the enterprise crowdsourcing paradigm and to provide a forum for further exploration and advancement in the enterprise domain.
The workshop will also seek to better understand emerging business models and opportunities, while identifying how existing business processes can most efficiently adopt the crowdsourcing model. 06/07/2010 ESOF 2010, the biennial pan-European meeting dedicated to scientific research and innovation, this year will take place in Turin from 2nd to 7th July 2010 (www.esof2010.org ).
ESOF is an international and multidisciplinary event, that takes place every two years, in major European cities.
The brokerage event is a unique opportunity for companies, research centres and universities to meet potential partners for research projects, cooperation agreements and technology transfer.
The one to one meetings are primarily aiming at:
- encouraging the building of partnership for projects co-financed by the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7)
- facilitating international technology transfer and cooperation agreements
Because of the multidisciplinary approach of ESOF, the brokerage event will be open to all 10 Cooperation Specific Programmes of FP7. 08/07/2010 Brussels, Belgium This event aims to give a detailed briefing to interested stakeholders on the FP7 ICT work programme 2011/12 objectives related to set-up of public-private-partnership (PPP) on the Future Internet.
In addition, the workshop will be a platform for potential proposers to exchange their ideas and to network.

15/07/2010 - 18/07/2010 Iasi, Romania REMEDIS 2010, an international conference on regenerative medicine, will be held in Iasi, Romania from 15 to 18 July 2010.
The event will feature a cross-disciplinary research networking programme for the advancement of research, translational and clinical application in regenerative medicine.
Regenerative medicine is a rapidly-growing field involving the life, physical and engineering sciences. It seeks to develop functional cell, tissue, and organ substitutes in order to restore anatomy and function that have been lost due to congenital abnormalities, injury, disease, or ageing.
Currently-available therapeutic methods, reconstructive surgery, tissue and organ transplantation offer valuable solutions for a range of pathological conditions. However, they still have clinical limitations.
At the same time, regenerative medicine products are still waiting for their era of clinical extensive application. This is despite a promising body of research in the field of cell biology, biomaterials and biotechnologies.
Researchers, biotechnology companies representative, clinicians will be among the participants at the event. This year's edition will add biotechnology to the panel of cutting edge scientific solutions in assisting health, rehabilitation and human dignity recovery.
