To be held on the brink between the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP7) and its successor Horizon 2020, the EURO-SME 2013 conference is seizing the momentum for SMEs and innovation. In the current economic conditions the main challenge for the EU – and many other developed countries for that matter – is providing the conditions for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. 11/06/2013 - 12/06/2013 Dublin Castle, Dublin To be held on the brink between the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP7) and its successor Horizon 2020, the EURO-SME 2013 conference is seizing the momentum for SMEs and innovation. In the current economic conditions the main challenge for the EU – and many other developed countries for that matter – is providing the conditions for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. Sustainable, long-term growth and job creation will be delivered best through SMEs that gain and sustain their competitive advantage through innovation. The event promises to bring together hundreds of entrepreneurs, policy makers, SME support organizations from the private and the public sector, and other intermediary bodies that will feed their energy and ideas into how to improve the EU eco-system for innovative enterprises. It will also introduce SME specific measures in Horizon 2020 to this community.
The Conference will feature opening speeches from Robert-Jan Smits, General Director, DG for Research and Innovation and Sean Sherlock TD Minister of State, Department of Enterprise, Jobs & Innovation and Department of Education & Skills with responsibility for Research & Innovation. The conference will also feature key-note talks from Anne-Lise Kjaer, Professor Wim Vanhaverbeke and Ms. Keary Crawford.

This conference will focus on how SMEs could take a sustainable benefit from the participation in Horizon 2020, showing opportunities on the long term strategy for SMEs to get prepared in time for this new framework programme. 13/06/2013 Event Brewery Brussels
Rue Delaunoy 58 B/1
Brussels Due to the diversity and growing complexity of the funding landscape, Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) need targeted support and a strategic orientation to make optimal use of the funding opportunities available to them. In an increasingly competitive environment in European healthcare innovation, the shift from an ad-hoc participation to a long-lasting and sustainable involvement in collaborative projects is pivotal for the growth of innovative SMEs.
The novel structure of Horizon 2020 offers a wide range of participation possibilities in the Health sector covering a heterogeneous field and SMEs need to be prepared for their participation right from the beginning.
SMEs working in health-related areas can come from very diverse sectors, encompassing drug discovery, diagnostics (e.g. infections), food safety (e.g. microbial infections, but also prevention), e-Health/ICT (e.g. mobile and home healthcare delivery), health policies, medtech (devices), nanotech (e.g. drug delivery, vaccines), and others – this is why a wide range of Horizon 2020 programmes will be of interest to health-related SMEs.
